Whenever I select a word, phrase or paragraph to delete and then try to dlete
it, Office always aks me if I want to delete the selction. How do I set
Office to do what I ask it to do without the whole rigmarole every time? It
gets somewhat tedious when one is editing a lengthy document...

This is caused by WordPerfect option settings. Go to Tools>Options>General
and uncheck
"Help for WordPerfect Users" and "Navigation keys for WordPerfect Users."

Tools | Options | General: Clear the check boxes for both items that refer
to WordPerfect.
