How can I decrypt an encrypt file?

I have encrypted some files. I opened the properties page and activated the
encryption check box. Now I am not able to open the files. while opening the
file, " the word could not be opened" message is coming. How can I decrypt an
encrypted file? I tried by deactivating the encryption check box, but in
vain. Pls give me a vlaid and valuable answer to get rid of this problem

You should be asked / prompted for a password. Use the same password as you
used when you encrypted the word doc.

If you dont see a prompt for a password the file is almost certainly corrupt
- in this case you have a bigger problem and would be best getting a backup
copy.
