How can I create a family tree using Microsoft Office?

I am doing some research on family history. I would like to create a family
tree in Microsoft office and add the names, birthdates and birthplaces. I
have tried using the organizational chart scheme but it will not allow for
spouses.

Any suggestions?

Family trees are a fairly specialized application. There are many family
tree programs out there (including some free ones). Depending on what
specifically you want to do, you might be better off with a specialized
program for this purpose. If you want to build it yourself, Access would
probably be the best program from within Microsoft Office, but I don't
think it would be easy to get any office program to do all the things in
terms of displaying the tree that the specialized programs can do.

Have you tried using Paf5 which can be downloaded from the "Family Search"
web site. I find it very easy to use and you can add every detail associated
with each person.
