How can I control a networked PC?

Here is what I have.

3 towers
2 monitors
2 keyboards/mice
1 four port Linksys router

One of the rigs is mine that I use for everyday computing. The second rig
is my Son's that he uses for surfing/gaming. This leaves the third tower
just sitting on the floor.

Is there an affordable way to control the third tower with my computer?
I know that I could buy a KVM switch but I have never had any luck with cheap
KVM switches and I don't really have the money (or trust) to buy a more expensive
switch. I want to use the other tower as a printer server as well as putting
my TV tuner/capture card in it to record some of the programs that I often
miss. I am hoping to find some type of software that I could install on
all three machines that will allow me to control any of the machines from
my computer. Something that will allow me to execute files, view/listen
to multimedia, update windows and/or hardware drivers and so on.

I have googled for some ideas and found; Radmin ($35.00), PC-Duo Remote Control
(price unknown) and Anyplace Control ($29.95) but I would also like some
input from others here.

Thanks,

If you have xp pro, then just use remote desktop.
Or, If you don't have xp pro:
you could use netmeeting and share the desktop.
or I'd try Remote Admin. It's the fastest one I've ever used.

FYI - only xp pro can be a remote desktop host. Xp home cannot. XP home can
be a client in a remote session only.

I have a Belkin two port KVM switch that only cost me about $40 after
rebates. It uses a keyboard hotkey combo to swap between boxes. In
the six months of using it I have had ZERO problems.

You might rethink your logic about not wanting to use a "cheap" KVMs;
many work just fine. Just do your homework.

Try RealVNC from www.realvnc.com you can then remote control your "print
server" from either of the machines. Best of all, its FREE!!!
