How can I 'Close' or 'Finish' a CD?

I have made a CD with a few media clips on using Windows Explorer. The disk
is fine as long as I use it on my own pc. However, when I put it in my son's
laptop it appears that the disk is empty.

I think it is because I haven't 'Closed' of 'Finished' it so it works in any
machine.

How can I do this in XP?

Thanks,

Noel

Windows XP native CD writing only creates multi-session disks and
provides no way to close the CD. You need to use a third-party CD/DVD
creation software if you want that feature.

It should not matter if the CD was close or not. Assuming your cdrom sees
the CD, then I have seen some burned CD that other drives would not read.
Never have understood why this occurs but it has happened that one cdrom
will not read from a cd created on another drive.

Not all devices can read unclosed discs. These days, most of the time
it wouldn't matter - but with older equipment, or equipment that isn't
as compatible as you want - it does. Closing the CD makes it more
compatible all around.
