Of my 17 startup items shown, I cannot see anything resembling
RegCure
That's OK; msconfig is only a tool; it is not meant for adding or
killing processes on a permanent basis. In fact, some things if you
remove them will just come back if they're critical to the computer
operation. Msconfig can help locate a problem; but then you still have
to go to where that problem originates to repair it. But apparently in
this case it's not even doing that for you. Possibly because Regcure
isn't loaded into memory or it's using a name you don't recognize.
Does the box that pops up have a place to tick to tell it to not do
that in the future? Sometimes they do.
IS regcure actually installed and functioning? If so:
If you cannot go into Regcure itself and find an auto-start or
scheduling part (I don't know the program; don't use it), then you
should go to Control Panel's Add or Remove and Remove it from your
system. That will most likely work because it appears you have an
incomplete or corrupted install of the program. Then, after a coupld of
Restarts, if you really want that program, you could try to reinstall it
after reading all the installation instructions again.
Do not manually delete the program to get rid of it as that could
create even more problems than you have now.
I don't know if regcure is a good program or not; I've never tried it
and have no need to although mentions of it lately make me curious
enough to download it to my sandbox someday to see what it's all about.
Assuming it's free<g>.
If it's NOT installed and functioning, then it may be a case of chasing
down where the install calls are coming from and removing those.
I hope you'll come back and let us know where things are.
There will be followons to this post about how bad, useless and
dangerous that and any program like it are, that'll come from a small
group of closed minded, noisy ego-maniacs resident here. I'd advise you
to not let their scare tactics and unfounded claims bother you; just
ignore them for what they are; noise.
