How can I assign a shortcut icon to my website ?

I've noticed many websites have icons for thier shortcuts on my desk top.
Can I do the same for my website? If so How.
 
Just keep in mind, even with inserting the favorite icon correctly, IE will
only show it when a page has been added to a user's favorites (though in IE
7 this appears to have changed) and only if the user has the page
bookmarked. Other browsers show it for pages that aren't bookmarked.
