How can I apply a CMYK color to a chart?

We use corporate colors to our bar charts. I usually copy and paste the chart
into Illustrator and then edit separately each part of the chart. But, is
there a way to apply directly on the Excell a cmyk color or a pantone?

When I copy and paste a chart on Illustrator I have undesirable copies of
lines. Can this be avoided?

XL supports a palette limited to 56 colors. It is possible to
substitute a color of your choice for one of those through Tools |
Options... | Color tab | select an existing color, click the Modify...
button and in the resulting Color dialog box click the Custom tab.

How the RGB choices map to CMYK or pantone is something I'll leave to
you. {grin}

Excel can't read CMYK, and I gather there's no trouble free conversion.
In Illustrator, can you click on something, then read its colors in RGB?
I'm sure it's possible, I've never used Illustrator, but most of the
unsophisticated drawing packages I've ever tried can do it.

Once you have your RGB, you can adjust the workbook's palette easily
enough. Select Options from the Tools menu, then click on Color, select
a specific color, and press the modify button.

How are you copying and pasting the chart? Here is a procedure which may
work better. Select the chart, and hold Shift while selecting the Edit
menu. Choose Copy Picture, then select the On Screen and Picture
options. This might carry less junk across apps.
