How can I alphabetize mailing labels by last name in Word?

I have mailing labels that are not in alphabetical order by last name. Does
anyone know how to get them in order?

A mail merge operation? If so and the entries that are
being merged have the First name and Last name in seperate
columns, sort the table (worksheet, or) by last name and
re-run the merge.
