Hovering mouse

Windows Home XP/Compaq notebook/Synaptics Touchpad mouse.

When the pointer hovers over a selection it selects it even if I don't click. I
have searched through the mouse controls in Control Panel, but haven't found
any reference to "hovering". What's the answer?
 
It's in your folder options in the control panel. On the general tab put a dot in "double click-----" Have fun. :~)
