Did you ever get a response? I started having exactly the same problem
today. . with the hour glass coming on every 10 seconds or so. I haven't
loaded any new software or hardware. It only happens in Word. It does not
happen, though, if I do a Safe Mode start. Good luck! I'll watch for posts.

In my case, I was drawn to the last post describing a printer driver
(Brother HL1440). Although I have the same printer, that didn't turn out to
be the problem. I did have, however, a Margi-Presenter-to-Go driver that
allows me to transfer ppt presentations to my palm pilot. Removing that
driver solved my problem immediately. I had installed that driver last week
with no problem. Not sure what triggered it, but the problem has now gone
away. . at least for the past 2 hours.
