hotmail locking up

just recently have developed problems downloading hotmail
emails onto outlook. has always worked before. now the
program gets locked while synchronizing folders and then
i get the error "cannot access server... etc."

i have no problem accessing the internet.
all my other popmail accounts work fine through outlook.
can otherwise access hotmail normally without difficulty.

any advise.

The type of connection (POP3 or HTTP) cannot be compared with eachother.
Anyway; It could be maintenance on the Hotmail server (which is quite
possible now that they are preparing the increased storage of the Hotmail
accaounts). Another thing that could be it is that the message you are
trying to download is large in size (something like larger than 500KB) and
that you currently have a slow connection to the server. You can check this
by logging into the webbased Hotmail. In the case of the large message; read
it on-line and delete it or simply try again a couple of hours/day later.
