hotfix and memory

I have had to install dozens of updates at a huge cost to
my available memory on the hard drive. Where is my memory
compensation for the inadequacies of the software program?
Why would I want to install updates to protect from an
attacker if all I get in return is reduced memory space?
I think that every time XP has a vulnerability to an
attacker, users should receive the update (hotfix) and a
memory upgrade to compensate for the loss.

Laura;
First of all, memory is not an issue, hard drive space is and they are
two different things.

The updates do not use that much space.
If space is an issue to you, you need a larger hard drive.
