I have used Palm Devices a lot, and this has always worked for me.
For the user of the Palm device, temporarily elevate their priveliges to
Admin on their PC. While logged in as them, install the Palm cradle and load
all the Palm software, etc. Make sure to do a few "test" HotSyncs to make
sure it all works.
After that you can move their priveliges back down to Power User, and they
should still be able to sync properly.
My experience with Palm is that it will install only for the user account
with which you are currently logged on to. EX: If you log on as
administrator, install Palm and then log on as another user Palm will not
work for that user. Weather this user is an admin or not changes nothing.
So what I do when installing Palm for a client is to give him/her temporaty
admin rights to perform the install and, once completed and tested, remove
the admin rights. No sync problem.
