Open up the host file, it probably has a web site on it.
That website download or install probally replaced your
hosts file

Hi,
I'm also having the same problem but in Windows 2K. I've had this
problem for quite some time now but it only happens to a few pc's out
of the 300 we have and recently it has been happening more frequently.
I can't seem to find anything helpful on this subject. The hosts file
disappeared so I copy the hosts file back into
C:\WINNT\system32\dirvers\etc and literally watch it disappear within
seconds. If anyone has any suggestions, that would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks.

Kayan
