Hosting-where to start?

Hello All

I want to store and selectively share large files in a secure location and
have heard of web as well as ftp servers for this purpose.I gather some
servers can stream video files for you which would be a bonus.

How does one find a host server and what is the difference between web
server and ftp server?Which is best for my purposes? Does a web (http ??)
server mean you have to have your own web page and domain?After finding a
host what are the next steps?

BTW I have a P4 3.2 GHZ and XP PRO

May I suggest you do some reading about "the internet". Maybe you should
drop down to your local bookstore and look at guides to the Internet - they
are likely to explain how some of this stuff works and give you some solid
background.
