Host Application Has Stopped Working - video for games won't launc

I've been trying to resolve a issue where I get an error that says "Catalyst
Control Centre: Host Application Has Stopped Working". I called the
manufacturer of the video card (AMD Radeon HD 2600 card) They spent 1.5
hours double checking my video drivers doing a full clean and then
reinstallation of the latest and greatest. I had tried this to no success.
When I run games...the computer tries to launch the video aspects of the game
and then the error message comes up and then nothing...It orginally worked on
all the games and stopped working after one of the updates. AMD tech
support said they thought I would need to do a complete reinstallation of
Windows Vista! (PS its a DELL XPS420, 4GB RAM)

Anyone have any ideas on what to try next. Who should I call for help on
this? I really do not want to do a complete reformat and reinstallation of
Windows Vista. Thanks for the help. (and I did try a restore and that did
not work...)

I must be a rookie...I don't know what nero is? This originally worked and
I think a restore or loading some software corrupted some settings? How do I
check into your suggestion? Thanks.

That is exactly the error message I am getting. (ie- your previous reply).
I've gone through the complete removal of drivers and reinstallation of them.
No change. I had done this myself and the help line took me through the
same process. Still no change.

Thanks again for the help...
