"Hosed" (as in "My Computer is Hosed!") is such a colorful word as far as
computer related lingo goes....

Does anyone know the history of how the word developed to it's current
computing usage?

tr.v. hosed, hos·ing, hos·es
1. To water, drench, or wash with a hose: hosed down the deck; hosed
off the dog.
2. Slang To attack and kill (someone), typically by use of a
firearm: hosed the enemy trooper.
===============comment:
Certain highspeed automatic weapons emit a stream of bullets not unlike
a fire hose...perhaps military training slang is at the root. Could even
be napalm squirters from way back. In any event, it hurts.

"Hosed" a condition rendered to slave men when caught looking at white women
from the slavery days. This punishment of great pain with little or no blood
loss usually meant the slave would not be working the fields for several
days as he had been "hosed". After the years slavery had been abolished
police departments adopted this method of forcing confessions from suspects.
In jail talk, being hosed meant you had given everything up and then some,
guilty or not. It is a real spirit breaker but never try this at home!
