Horizontal menu bar

[top floor]

I'm sure of the name used to reference the bar across the top of a page that
has the menu options, it's the section that has the home, page layout,
insert, etc. This entire bar takes up too much real estate on my screen.
Can I reduce the size? I can't find any way to do it but it's driving me
crazy. It's making me hate using msword.
Help. Any ideas?

You're referring to the Ribbon in 2007? Double-Click the active tab to
collapse it, click a tab when you need it. You can also set it to minimized
by way of the little arrowhead at the right end of the Quick Access Toolbar.

That's called "The Ribbon" and you can easily minimize it but simply
double-clicking on any of the tabs. i.e. where it says "Home".

Thank you. I should've known that.

If you are using W2007, right click in the ribbon area and choose "minimize
the ribbon".
