After installing the latest MS update, my preferred home
page defaults to : http://autosearch.cc. I reset, thru IE
tools, and the same thing continues to occur???

I had the same problem. Used this fix and it worked.

SPYBOT, ADAWRE, and PEST PATROL will find and distroy this Highjacker so that it doesn't happen again, but you must first do this fix to change the setting that the virus put in your registry.
