Homepage keeps changing = the same pop-up keeps coming up.

My homepage keeps changing from yahoo or msn to something
like search space or something like it.
Can someone please tell me why and how do I stop it from
happening.
Also I am concerned about a pop-up that keeps comig on
every time My Family and I access the internet.
It is a window for a website which contains very
unsuitable material for my chidren.
Could someone please tell me why and how to stop it as
putting on the content advisor only makes surfing the web
difficult.
