Homepage is greyed out

If I go to IE6 > Tools >Options >General, I noticed that all settings for my
homepage are grayed out.

Since I use shortcuts for URLs on my desktop, instead of a homepage, these
grayed out settings do not bother me but why should they be grayed out?

After tearing my hair out about this and running all kinds of tests, I
remembered that I had configured Spy-botSD to prevent homepage hijackings.

As soon as I reversed this setting in Spy-bot, the homepage settings
returned to normal.
