home networking problem

I have two computers A (running W2K pro) and B (Win XP pro) connected with
each other and the internet via wired DLink router. Both A and B belong to a
workgroup HOME. There are several user profiles, under the same names on both
boxes. All drives, printers, etc are shared.

Until a few days ago, everything was working just fine. Then, for whatever
reason, I can access B from A no problem. However, if I try to access a file
on A from B, a dialog box pops up asking for an User ID and a password. When
I check things up I see that the workgroup name on B was changed from HOME to
MSHOME. I can ping both computers both ways, access files from B on A, share
printer etc. but I cannot access files on A from B. Both computer connect to
the outside without problems. Using Windows Explorer on B I can see the
drives on A, but when I click on the drive letter the computer asks for a
password.

Any comment/hint etc will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, JanAdam

Well, my first response would be to change the "Workgroup" to be the same on
"both" computers, whether you change B back to "HOME" or change A to
"MSHOME" it doesn't matter, but to work best, they need to belong to the
same workgroup.
