Hi
I have a home network with 2 desktops. One is running 98SE, the other
XP home. They are connected through a Linksys router and were working
fine. When I do a "Net View" both PCs show up.
I am in the process of transitioning to a new hard drive and reinstall
of the XP including SP2. Now when I attempt to network the two, I can
see the 98 from the XP but not the other way around. I have tried
using the network wizard, including the protocol to install on the 98
machine, no luck. I am able to ping the XP box, but that is it.
When I do a "Net View" from either PC, the only PC I see is the 98
machine. I have confirmed that the built in firewall is turned off,
and Zone Alarm is set exactly the same way it was prior to the hard
drive change.
I can see no discernable difference between the settings before and
after the new hard drive. Fortunately, I can boot between my two hard
drives right now. The old configuration still works, the new one
doesn't.
Any pearls of wisdom?
