Home Network problem

I have a problem sharing an internet connection. I have
an XP computer which is connected to the internet. I am
using the share internet feature with XP. Then I use a
network card to connect to a wireless router. Problem is
that the XP machine wants to set it's IP on the network
card to xxx.xxx.xxx.001 and the router wants to use the
same address. I'm using a NetGear router and can't seem
to be able to change the router's IP along with the XP
machine to stop this conflict. I guess I just want the
router to work like a hub but not real sure how to do
this. Any ideas?

Karl why are you using connection sharing? That is what
the router is for.

Why are you using Internet Connection Sharing when you have a wireless
router? The only reasons that I can think of are:

1. You have a dial-up Internet connection.
2. Your have a broadband Internet connection that only connects using
USB.

Every wireless router that I've seen lets you change the IP address
that it uses on the local area network. What's the model of your
Netgear router?

BTW, IP addresses beginning with 192.168 are private IP addresses. No
one on the Internet can access them, so there's no need to conceal
them.
