Dear All,

Got a weird one here....(well two actually).....

When I browse the missus machine, it is showing to shared folders that the
hard-drive doesn't physically exist in her machine now, and yet I can't seem
to delete it? Is this a problem with my machine not updating what it should
see, or her machine not telling my machine the correct information?

Also, I've got a machine that is on a wireless connection in another room,
is it normal for it to disappear sometimes, and I have to refresh to get it
to show again? even if it isn't showing I can still type '\\computername'
and it will allow me to access it?

Probably something simple, but hunting around on 'Google' didn't turn much
up as my 'Search Terms' obviously didn't match what I need to type to get my
results...

Hope someone can enlighten me with this issue...

Regards
Paul.

1. you dont understand what you are seeing
such as c$ or administrative share, possibly, and you dont want to delete
those,

I originally had 3 Hard Drives in the machine, 1st HDD was C & D, 2nd HDD
was E, 3rd was E & F.....all folders were set using Sharing and Security to
allow all other machines to access the drives.....

I have now removed the physical 3rd drive, so and E & F don't exsist anymore
(on the machine the physical HDD was in) and yet, if I browse the network
(from any other machine) and go to the missus's machine (i.e. from My
Network Places), it still lists them as a Shared Folder, obvsiouly clicking
on them, the machine says I can't access them, which is obvsious as I don't
have the HDD in there now....

I need to know how to stop it listing the drives that aren't there anymore
just an fyi..2.4 ghz is line of sight
since almost anything can deflect or reflect it. it just doesnt carry
well,
because the frequency is to high and does not propigate well,
compared to AM which carries hundreds of miles, for example.
much lower frequency.

I think it could be that issue, Ive got a machine in the furthes part of the
house, I have a laptop in the bedroom (directly above the wifi) and it
doesn't seem to happen, but the other machine dissapears of the list, it
doesn't loose connection as I have mIRC running on that machine and it never
looses connection, that is why I was thinking it was an XP issue....

Even when I 'Refresh' on the list of computers available, and it is not
there, I can still type in the address bar \\computername and it finds it no
problems.....

Again, that is why I thought it was Windows just forgetting about it until I
get it to look again....

Regards
Paul.
