Home Network and Workgroup

B

Benny Jensen

I have 3 computers:
* one on Ethernet running XP home
* one on Ethernet running Win2000 Pro
* one on Wireless running XP home

I have a Siemens Gigaset SE105 (Router with Wireless
Access and 4 Ethernet Ports) connected to the Internet
through an ADSL link.

All computers access the Internet without any problems.

I am trying to setup a home network to share the printers
and a few folders on one of the XP computers, but I am
having a hard time and no luck in doing so.

When running the internet connection guide, I have tried
to configure both XP computers with direct access to the
internet and both as running though a gateway. I believe
it should be configured as accessing through a gateway
(the router), but I am not sure.

I have given all 3 computers different computer names and
the same workgroup name.

I can ping the other computers, but they will not show
when trying to display the members of the workgroup.

I can not see the printers connected to the XP (they are
marked as shared and are given different network names).

What am I doing wrong ?

Please help
Benny

1. posting ipconfig /all may help.
2. check the master browser by using brwostat.exe.

Problem solved.

I was running a local firewall on all 3 computers.
Removing those helped !!!

Hi, Robert. I can't find anything named "brwostat.exe" or
"browstat.exe" on my Windows XP computers. How do I access it?
