Does anyone know of a good freeware home inventory program? One that
allows you to enter an item, it serial number, put it into a category,
the price of it, do reports by category and save a backup copy.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Not many choices in this category. . . I think this app may come close
to what you're looking for (I haven't tried it).

But many spreadsheet programs can let you do that.

Xtremeblue has made XBlueTracker. Haven't tried it.
Can no longer find it on their site. If you google, you'll get several
hits elsewhere.

"My Stuff is an ad-supported freeware personal home inventory manager
perfect for keeping track of your valuables".

I used this program approximately four years ago, I think. Can't remember
whether there were any annoying ads or not then.
If you want to take a risk and check that out, there's an older and
lighter version here (also for W95):

If it turns out that there's no decent, and totally freeware (no ads,
no nags), program to do this, I can write one pretty quickly. Let's
see if someone finds one, though - no reason for me to expend the
effort if one exists.

looks not bad....

IMO not too great either. It looks very much like dbEdit but with a
fixed number of columns and preset column headings - making it less
flexible. dbEdit works well, is smaller. . .
