After upgrading from xp home to professional, the help and support center
still says "Windows XP Home Edition". This means I cannot offer remote
assistance. Any ideas?

Thier is no "upgrade" from xp home to pro.......The upgrade is for older
windows OS.To install pro from home, one must boot to pro cd,select install
xp,delete the partition (home),create one, then let xp format and do a clean
installation...Thiers no other way, this is how microsoft recomends it...

So you reckon that despite selecting the upgrade option, that's not what
happened? Colour me dubious.

You've said this here numbers of times and been corrected numbers of times,
by me and by others. That statement is completely false. Not only is the
upgrade from Home to Professional possible, it is the easiest and most
likely successful of all possible upgrades.

To install pro from home, one must boot to pro
cd,select install xp,delete the partition (home),create one,then let
xp format and do a clean installation...Thiers no other way,

Complete nonsense.

this is
how microsoft recomends it...

Completely false.

Hi- this is for Ken-I have heard numerous people remark that certain
software runs better under XP Pro as opposed to XP Home, so they recommend
upgrading. However, from I can understand on the MS website, the only
differences are in networking and security, not in the ability to run any
software. Please tell me your take on this. Thanks, Ted

Don't ever follow Andrew E's idiotic ramblings, he is the equivalent of a
newsgroup terrorist. Occasionally giving correct replies to fool the
naive(like a sleeper cell); but because of the way he posts his replies they
are difficult; to impossible to understand the information.
But why I categorize him as a newsgroup terrorist is that most of his posts
give advice that will cause the uninformed poster to lose all the data on
their hard drive without any warning to the effect that this will be the
result. He proclaims his malicious advice is advised by Microsoft but cannot
and will not supply links to support his claims.

Hogwash from the king of hogwash. Put up or shut up Andy, where does
Microsoft say you can't upgrade from Home to Pro?
The link below confirms that you CAN upgrade from Home to Pro.
Never take any advice from Andrew E.

The MS Website is right. There's no reason that any software would run
better on XP Pro than XP Home, other things (amount of RAM, processor
type, etc, etc) being equal.

The MS web site is absolutely correct. There are no differences in how a
program runs. The only differences are in features, and those features are
primarily oriented toward networking and security.

That's a complete falsehood, as you've been told many times in the
past. Why do you persist in telling this lie?

The upgrade is for older
windows OS.

Utter nonsense.

To install pro from home, one must boot to pro cd,select install
xp,delete the partition (home),create one, then let xp format and do a clean
installation...Thiers no other way, this is how microsoft recomends it...

Again, a deliberate lie.

Hogwash from the king of hogwash. Put up or shut up Andy,

WOW! I AM impressed, Mike! That was downright FRIENDLY!

I know, if I were Andrew, I'd have the warm, tingly fuzzies
right about now!

:-)

This is Jerk Tal again,

or you can just call me "jerk" if you like. (I'm gonna call
you "jerk" from now on -- kidding )

Excuse, please!

Couldn't find our last exchange, so I had a question for
you, and I'll try to not ever bother you ever again.

I went to your web page last night and found some really
cool stuff! I was impressed -- ( with your stuff, not with
you! )

Since you now consider me one of the modern plagues, I am
guessing that I no longer have your permission to access
your web site and download. ?? ( I mean, I might
contaminate it, or something)

I mean, I'm totally stupid, I know. Not worth feeding and
all that. So, can I still have the software?

:-)

( I DO hope you can see and appreciate my TRYING to be
funny. I DO have no hard feelings toward you. Why make YOUR
issues mine? And-- if you missed it-- my profession was/is
writing. How's my parody doing?)

Good luck!

The parody is a farce, you are bi-polar and your jerk side of your bi-polar
disorder has decided to terrorize these newsgroups. This is not being
insensitive to your condition, it is meant to make you aware of how your
condition is affecting the flow and functionality of the newsgroups you have
decided to make your playground. Please, I will grovel and say please again,
find another playground. This is not where you want to play.
I know I said I would not post about your condition again, but I did not see
these posts before I posted the previous post.
Please try to get a handle on your disorder and not inflict it on innocent
people. I can't physically tap you on the shoulder and say to you that was
inappropriate but I would if I could, and you are taking advantage of anyone
that calls you out when you are wrong but can't physically make you aware it
is wrong.

Stay out of it. You obviously do not know what you're talking about,
Tallywacker. Andrew E. is the _worst_. Period. Michael is right. I
suggest you do more reading here and get informed before you spout off
like this.
