Home ed. XP: no icons wanted in explorer

Salve,
How can I obtain default in every folder of explorer a simple row of files
with all the data, instead of (default) all these useless icons??
In the folder setting (reached from the control panel) there is an option
for that, but the button seems off.
Is there a trick or tweaker for this?
Thanks a lot. After a week I am already longing back for my good old Windows
98.

You can default to "Details" view:

- Open an Explorer window
- Click View \ Details
- Click Tools \ Folder Options
- Click the View tab
- Click "Apply to All Folders"
