Home Directory access across the web

Hi, We're looking to provide our users access to their Home Directory from home via the web. I'm considering using installing iis and ftp onto the server containing the Home Directories and using ISA to publish the server. Has anyone gone down this route and what are the basic security implications?

Someone has suggested using web folders rather than ftp, any comments
