HLP files not opening - vista ultimate

windows help and support not installed during setup and if it was how do i
point it to the correct location? it opens chm version of file but not hlp.

..HLP files are not supported in Vista, though there may be a way to open
them in the future.

The pop-up that appears when you try to access an .hlp file should have
a link to the explanation of how HELP is now handled in Vista...or
search the MS site.

....and if you can't find it, here's the short of it:

You can copy winhlp32.exe from XP installation/CD and use it to open HLP
files on Vista. Either double click winhlp32.exe to have standard
Browse/Open dialog, or right-click HLP file and select Open With, then
browse for winhlp32.exe
