HL2 & the Premier pack

Has any one opted for the extra Valve Premier pack through Steam, or the
cd, that was offered with the HL2 coupon that comes with various ATI cards?
I ask because I'd like to know if they give you an additional activation key
or something(after you get the premier pack) for the half life when it comes
out. I should mention that I don't have broadband so would have go the cd
route. I just don't like the idea of them saying "sure send this along and
you'll get the HalfLife too when it comes out". I mean there you are using
up the original activation and the UPC to boot, and then what? Also if I go
for the Premier pack do I have to get the HL2 through Steam when it does
come out, or can I still get that on cd? I'd appreciate any
info..reassurances etc. Thanks.

IIRC, they tell you to send in a PHOTOCOPY of the scratched-off activation
coupon for the Value Premier Pack, and they they will have you in their
system when HL2 comes out, or else further instructions will follow. You
need the key to activate the game anyhow, so they're not gonna make you part
with it.

From what I read on the site, if you follow their instructions to the letter
(as you should with all rebates/free offers like this), then you will find
that you're not being asked for anything you may need later. Of course it's
always a good idea to make photocopies of forms and such that you fill out
to cover yourself in case they lose something.

They Key works for ALL the games... you DO need an internet connection
to USE the VALVE PAK. The ATi CD-KEY is kind of a Special HL2+extras
key.

With my 1.5down, it took about 45mins to DL everything 1.1GB.

The system is still kind of BETA... to actually play OLD OLD Half Life
and counter strike, its a bit of a pain.

1 - DO NOT be in the game itself
2 - Launch Steam, click on SERVERS, then click the server to play
on... it then LOADS up the game... stupid way of course. To do it the
otherway, it won't work.

3 - I have to use the account... since the box was accidently thrown
away before I got to the site and it says "CUT OUT THE UPC/box code
from the original box" - well CRAP!!! IT didn't say that on the
CD-KEY CARD!!

Oh well...
