My machine (P3 WinXp pro + SP2) stops responding at Restart, Shutdown or Log
Out. This ERROR is always the culprit:
==================================================
The server {9B1F122C-2982-4E91-AA8B-E071D54F2A4D} did not register with DCOM
within the required timeout.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
....which says...
Using Regedit, navigate to the following registry value
HKCR\Clsid\clsid value\localserver32
The clsid value is the information displayed in the message.
In the right pane, double-click Default. The Edit String dialog box is
displayed.
===================================================
Problem is there is no "clsid value\localserver32" in my registry. I
navigate up to CLSID only.

Anyone has had this experience? - thanks to let me know how you resolved it.
I am pressing the Reset button everytime as the delay is unbearable.

Hi - your registry path led me to:
(Default) CAutoUpdate Class 1.0
AppId {653C5148-4DCE-4905-9CFD-1B23662D3D9E}

What do I do next?
I have made a search in my PC for CAutoUpdate Class 1.0, with no results.

Tks for your patience

Clsid value missing

Hi there Gimli

I have a problem with this same issue.
DCOM errors in Event manager.
I have tracked it to the Microsoft solution you mentioned in your post.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/899965
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\CLSID value doesent exist.
It gets to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\CLSID and there is nothing else so we cannot proceed to complete the fix.
Did you find a solution to this eventually?
My next plan is to find this Key on anothers Sindows XP and copy it across.

Till then
Grunta out.
