When Win 2k professional boots up it gives the following
error message: cannot find C:\winnt\system32\hkcmd.exe (or
one of its components). I did a search to see if said file
was missing, but it is sitting in said directory. What
would be some of its "other components/files" that rely on
said executable?

Have you made any recent changes or installations of Microsoft Office or any changes to your system, specifically any graphics hardware changes?
