hit counter problems

I used Front page to 'insert, web component, hit counter.
and it asked me to select which version.
I did that, and I got in page view, [Hit Counter]

which is also all I see when I view my page online.

I use comcast.net and I did subscribe to
"Activate Front Page Server Extensions"

but still no joy, no counter.
So what did I do wrong this time?

Did you publish the page with the hit counter to the server via FP's http mode, if not it will not
work. If yes, then ask your host to check the permissions on the _private folder.

Ok, I use a FTP program to send the files to a specific directory on my
ISP's storage site....
That must be it...

Now I got to figure out how to get them to allow it.

Bill,
If you can't get it to work, try a third party such as Site Meter. From
http://www.sitemeter.com Works for me. Lots of other stats.

Unless you publish it via FP's http mode or add it directly to the page from within FP on the
live/remote server, then it will not work.
