History Will Not Clear

After selecting "Tools, Internet Options, Clear History"
and then select "View, Explorer Bar, History" there are
still folder/links in the History list. Refreshing and/or
restarting does not help. Going to the controp panel and
performing the same does not help. I am running EI 6.0
SP1 and Windows XP. The only way that I was able to get
rid of the history was by selecting each one individally
and deleting it. Any suggestions? Thanks

You might need to delete the damaged History folder- a new one will be
created on restart.

Free History Eraser from
http://smartprotector.com/eraser/free-history-eraser.htm will delete the
History folder in Windows 9x,2K, XP.

Another program might be locking your history.

The ActiveX filter of McAfee (and possibly other) anti-virus programs can
interfere with the history function of IE. Just disable the ActiveX filter.
