History of PowerPoint application

Is there a nice short historical layman's guide to PowerPoint over the
years?
Something that describes the added useful features with release level, and
of course estimated usage statistics. I'm providing a senior, who seems to
be interested in PPT, a bit of historical perspective. Not too technical
please!

about the history of PowerPoint. I think it stops somewhat around the year
2000, but I'm sure you can add the rest yourself. Maybe you could combine
that with the information in Wikipedia,
