hey I am supposed to write a report on the history of C#

a) who invented it
b) why has it become so popular
c) why does office not run C#
d) does it really have a decent interface?
e) what is more popular, PHP or C#?

I don't know that much about C#; I just didn't understand.. my
professor was talking about how 'C# people are a bunch of VB kids that
dont know that they are really typing in VB' but I just dont know what
he meant by that.

Is it true?
Is C# just a derivative of the VB family?

Why did they think that C# was needed when they already owned 2 of the
3 most popular languages.

Thanks

Aaron Kempf

For those of you in the C# group who don't know of Aaron, he's been
trolling over in the microsoft.public.dotnet.languages.vb group for quite a
while. Some of his aliases are punjab_tom, susiedba, dbahooker, and
LarryLinson. Sometimes he argues with himself. Many people have tried to
argue with him or talk some sense into him, to no avail. So you probably
don't want to waste your breath.

Just FYI.

hey I am supposed to write a report on the history of C#

a) who invented it

Some person from Europe. Originally it was going to be called The Final
Countdown instead of C# but that name was not available.
b) why has it become so popular

Microsoft said it was the language of the future so we jumped onboard, baa
baa...
c) why does office not run C#

well C# can run Office, even better
d) does it really have a decent interface?

depends what part of your body you want to stick into it I guess
e) what is more popular, PHP or C#?

PCP is actually more popular than both of those

Ask your professor what he/she meant by that, that's what they get paid for.

As you can tell from the name C# is based on the VB language. If it was
based on the C/C++ languages they would have called it VB#
Why did they think that C# was needed when they already owned 2 of the
3 most popular languages.

It created more newsgroups to give people the opportunity to post more
stupid questions

if Microsoft told you to jump off a bridge would you do it?

I've just never heard of this C-sharp thing until recently

it surprised me

and no.. my professor said that 'C and Java has never _ONCE_ had a
decent IDE (compared to VB) so lets' stoop to their level and give
them a copy of VB and see if they know the difference'

oh, C# can run office?

Start Excel, Tools, Macro, 'C# Editor'

OH SORRY DIPSHIT IT IS NOT THERE?

maybe I need to reinstall with a 'programminglanguage = retarded'
flag??

I did not say that Office includes tools to use C# to run Office. I said
that C# can run Office. Google Visual Studio Tools for Office (VSTO) for
more information.

As far as I can remember, the only popular language MS ever owned was VB.
MS doesn't own any of C/C++, Java, perl, python, php, ECMAScript, tcl, ruby,
or shell interpreter (several flavors), which I believe are the other most
popular general use imperative languages. In functional programming you
have caml, haskell, etc, and MS doesn't own any of those either. For
widespread specialized languages you have things like postscript and PCL,
also not owned by Microsoft.

dude are you on ****ing CRACK

yeah; I support PHP and I hope for the fall of Microsoft; I hope to
see Redmond burn in HELL

but 90% of those languages involve a market share of a half dozen
linux fags

I just wish that google would adopt basic or something rational

this java crap has gone on too far; and if I wanted to jam pointers
I'd dress in pink and shove a C++ book up my ass

WTF kid

why would I want to buy yet another visual studio tool.. when VBA
ships with Office?
