History: how to remove one item, but not everything else?

How can I remove one item from the IE history
(Address pulldown) without removing everything
else? That is, I do not want to do Clear History
under Tools > Internet Options. Instead, I want
to do a selective clear.

PS: I tried looking at the History subfolders using
Start > Explore. Surprisingly, the item I want to
remove does not appear there. Where is it coming
from?

Hi,
You're referring to the TypedURLs list which appears when you click the down
arrow on the right end of the Address Bar, right?

This article explains the TypedURLs registry keys:
157729 - How to Clear the History Entries in Internet Explorer:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q157729
Removing some or all entries is an easy registry edit.

For an easier, safer removal method, go to
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm
and download "DelTypedURL." This INF file will remove *all* entries.

These two freeware programs will remove some or all entries:
IE Address Bar Editor: http://www.freesoft.fsnet.co.uk/ieedit01.htm
EditURLs: http://www.aandrc.com/editurls/index.htm

Tip: If you type URLs in via File> Open, instead of the address bar, they
aren't saved in the TypedURLs key and you can keep a select few URLs in the
drop-down list.

Hope this helps,
Don
