HiJacked HomePage in IE6

A

Aleric

Hi,

Any help with problem will be greatly appreciated. When I
open IE6 in WinXP Home Edition, one of the following 4
URL's will load as the default home page. Clicking the
home icon rotates the the 4 URLS as the default home page.

http://wetsearch.ws/
http://allsearch.ws/
http://cool-search.ws/
http://searchclub.ws/

When checking the home page address in Tools>internet
Options I get the following address in the text box.

(Text Menu=>Tools=>Internet Options=>Home Page
Frame=>Address Text Box=>)

http://81.211.105.8/index.php?v=1

When resetting the home page to any URL other than the 4
listed, that URL will remail the home page until I stop
IE6. On the next run of IE6 It loops the 4 URLS and resets
the hompage listed above.

Is this a hijacked registry setting or *ini file or is it
in another application intirely?

I use H+BEDV virus scanner, Lavasoft Ad-aware 6, and
Spybot - Search & Destroy v1.2 almost daily and this IE6
problem persists. I have used the MSN Explorer, Netscape
v7.1 and Mozilla v1.5 with out this problem.

Thank You

Paul

Go get cwshreder or hijackthis. They are programs that will fix your registry, and remove the virus
We think this is caused by a hole in the java vm. Go to microsoft and get the lastest update for java.
Note: even with the latest java vm, i have seen computers get reinfected so be careful

First eliminate any scumware.
See
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware, Parasites, Toolbars and Search Engines
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.
