Highlighting

I have a template of a fax, which has information in it, which needs to be
changed depending on the customer ie, site name, ref numbers, etc.
Is there a way to hightlight the information which needs to be changed,
without having to selecting the text/fields first and then for the
highlighting to be automatically removed when the appropriate text is added.

Both of these would happen with MacroButton fields (see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/TblsFldsFms/UsingMacroButton.htm) if field shading
were set to "Always," but you can't guarantee the latter on anyone else's
computer. You might find actual form fields more suitable; see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/FillinTheBlanks.htm and especially
the forms tutorials by Dian Chapman that this article links to.

Thanks but thats not really what I am looking for. I have already set up all
the 'changing text' as MacroButton fields, but as some of the fields are in
the middle of text I was hoping that I could make them stand out by
highlighting them or changing the text somehow.

You could make them bold or colored, but I fear that might carry over to the
text that's entered.
