Highlighting portions of images

I am using scanned images of documents. I want to highlight certain portions
of that image. Is there a way to do that?

Do you want to do this while presenting or as part of the design of the
presentation? While presenting you could use the pen with the color set
to yellow (right-click and choose pointer options). If you want to do
while designing, you can draw boxes over your text, fill them in, and set
the transparency to something moderately high (like 75%).

And to add to that, you could animate the filled boxes to appear on a mouse
click or trigger them.
