Highlighting a string doesn't delete

Hi,

I'm wondering if a setting was changed on my computer without my knowing it.
Whenever I highlight a piece of my work and want to type something in its
place, the selected item remains instead of being deleted as I type. How can
I fix this?

Tools > Options > Edit > check "Typing replaces selection".
