One technique for getting a higher resolution image from Microsoft PowerPoint is to save as a *.emf file, then open that file in a program such as Paint and save as a *.jpg or *.png. To save as a *.emf file in PowerPoint, go to File => Save As = Save as type: go to Enhanced Windows Metafile (.emf) in the drop down.
The issue is when you save the slide(s) as a *.jpg or *.png directly from PowerPoint by going to Save as type: JPEG File Interchange Format (.jpg), the image is low quality and very pixelated.
