High CPU Utilization / Outlook / Word

Will

Greetings,

I have recently switched to a new laptop, and am fighting
with the manufacturer over excessive internal heating.

When I compose an e-mail, using Outlook 2000, I watch the
CPU utilization jump to 100%. This also raises the P4's
clock to 1800M- and really heats things up.

Word 2000 is used as the editor for Outlook. I have
noticed a similar issue when creating off-line documents -
even very small, one word memos. There is no excessive
drive activity at the time, and I am not performing a
spelling check.

Sometimes, the issue will clear up after 30 seconds or
so. In Outlook, the issue does not subside until the
message is sent - which could be quite a while!

Anyone else see this? Is there a remedy? It really heats
up the computer, and kills battery life as well.

Thanks,

Will
