The XP bootscreen is only in 16 colors.
Is it possible to have a 256, high color or true color boot screen?

I use stardocks bootskin (free)
thanks

You are limited to 4-bit colors, unfortunetly.

At least that was the case the last time I played around with customizing
XP's boot. Whether there is some gee-wiz program out there that has kludged
the barrier now, I don't know...

Google for sites on how to make/convert images to 4-bit and still look
fairly good. There are plenty out there. I was using them when making my
own customized screens...

If you are saying you can only set you color to 16 colors, then you should
reinstall you video card drivers.

Win98 and 95 had 256 colors... that is 8 bit color, while win2k and XP has 4
bit...
"drivers arent loaded yet" ..

explain the setup of vista that is in high color then... lol

Vista was to support true color bootscreens when it was in longhorn (beta),
they pulled it because they didnt want to create a mess...

Sorry, thinking Boot screen, not Startup screen.

Correct, I am talking about boot screens... after the bios and before the
startup screen
