hide system tray icon

Hi,

Is it possible to hide icons in the task tray near the clock in Windows
2000? I want a program to run in the background but not to display anything
in the task bar or the task tray.

Many apps/utilities have an option to toggle their icon on or off, but some do
not.

Try a Google search using "hide system tray icons" w/o the quotes, and you'll
find plenty of utilities available to meet your needs. Some are free, and some
are not. The ones with security features usually cost around $20 - $50.

Here's one with password control:

Good luck.

Try running it as a service, with Autoexnt.

How do you run a program as a service? I don't seem to have autoexnt on my
computer.

I agree with Jim. You need to run it as a service instead

The utilities the first user mentioned will either do the same or will be
for XP
