Hide network adapters from network neighborhood

Hi All,

Does anyone know of a way to hide network adapters from net neighborhood? I
need the adapter to still work, but just be completely hidden.. wondering if
there was like a registry hack or something...

so what you're saying is, you want to have, let's say internet access, but
not access the local network and be visible in network neighborhood?
disable file/printer sharing and client for microsoft networks on the
adapter and leave tcp/ip enabled
