I have a HD with 40 GB ; the preinstalled OS is in a hidden partition which
is supposed to take up about 6 GB but my drive C: has only 27,2 GB. Do I
have more hidden
partitions? How could I see all the content of my PC?
Thanks.

In Windows XP goto Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer
Managment.
Then goto Storage, Disk Managment. Your hard disk should be listed
there and all of its partitions will be listed (hidden or not).

Thanks, Tom
I recovered some GB.
That´s what I see :
C: with 27,2 GB and a non assigned drive with 6,81 GB ; the hidden drive (I
suppose)doesn´t appear. Is there a way to really access to the PC -all-?

A 40 GB disk is 40 decimal billion, this is about 37.5 of the binary GB
used in describing partitions. Still leaves a bit of discrepancy; it
the size for C that reported in my computer if you right click and take
Properties? Or is it from adding up apparent size of files, that will
leave out hidden items that might well add to 4 GB?

Control Panel - Admin Tools - Computer Management, select Disk
Management and look lower right for the graphic of the drive.

That will show you how it is divided, including hidden partitions and
any spare 'Unallocated' space

Thank you Alex,
The graphic shows C: with 27,2 GB and a non assigned partition with 6,81 GB
(so 34 GB of the 40 GB, according to the BIOS and the PC properties)
Are the 6 GB missing, the hidden partition?
If I really have 37,5 GB, 3,5 GB are still missing.
When I right clic the 6,81 GB partition, I can´t manage it. Is it the hidden
partition? How could I manage it?

Anything missing would show as either Unallocated or Free space. The
6.8 will be the hidden partition, you would have to use a third party
partition manager to unhide so XP could access, and I would advise
leaving it alone.

Check at All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Information

Look in the Components - Storage - Disks
and a little down in the right col should be Size (in the binary GB with
the exact number of bytes in decimal) that the disk is reporting to
Windows as being its total capacity. A nominal 40 GB I have shows as
37.28 GB (40,024,212,480 bytes). It may be that the maker of yours is
shading the true size
